Man Imprisoned for damaging and stealing Electrical Equipment belonging to KEDC

   Aliyu Ayuba has been sentenced to 30 months imprison for damaging and stealing power supply equipment belonging to Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company.

   The Magistrate Court III sitting in Zuru, Kebbi State, a Senior Magistrate Grade I,  reprimided the convict for the crime which he described as unfortunate, stressing that both the Federal and State governments are doing everything possible to ensure that power supply was efficiently restored in Nigeria.

   The court however was informed earlier by the prosecuting police Officer, Corporal Bulus Ibrahim, while presenting the First Investigation Report (FIR) that Aliyu Ayuba was charged with criminal conspiracy, mischief in relation to electricity and theft, offences contrary to, and punishable under sections 97, 334 and 288 of the penal code.

    The accused person admitted to committing the crimes and pleaded for the court’s leniency. This is according to head of cooperate communication of Kaduna Electric, Abdulazeez Abdullah.

    Ayuba was, tried and convicted. The Magistrate directed the convict to pay thirty-thousand naira (N30,000:00) as compensation to the electricity Distribution Company for the damage done to its property. However, he was given an option of fine of ten thousand naira (N10,000:00) for each of the offences.
