Benin Electricity Firm To Tackle Over-Billing and Other Challenges

The management of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has put measures in place to tackle the increase in complaint of over-billing by customers and amongst others.
Mrs Funke Osibodu, the Managing Director of BEDC, who was represented by Mrs. Virginia Asaba disclosed this on Wednesday at a stakeholders/town hall meeting with customers.
The managing Director explained that the customers forum department was constituted by BEDC to know the various electricity challenges confronting the customers in order to proffer solution to them, to the satisfaction of the their esteemed consumers.
Some of the issues raised at the forum to be tackled include, resolution procedure for over-billing, current supply situation, new tariff increase, new procedure for obtaining meter, approved payment channel and safety awareness.
Mrs. Virginia Oseneme, who represented the manging director, said “we created this customers forum to hear your complaints and address them accordingly. We will soon get to your desired destination, we are here to discuss as a family so as to let you know the procedure to follow when you are facing a particular challenge”
She added, “BEDC management appreciate our customers for their patience and understanding while urging them for more cordial relationship in order to serve them better.
However, electricity consumers at the forum lamented that BEDC should find lasting solution particularly to outrageous billing, tariff increase and electricity supply.
The Asaba District Business Manager, Engr. Timothy Adeleye noted that that electricity supply has now improved while urging the customers to guide against illegal connections and payment of electricity bills.
