Electricity consumers residents in Lagos, within the franchise of Ikeja distribution companies, network (IKED, has expressed satisfaction with the government for the improvement in electricity supply even as they called on the consumer units of the various distribution companies to be alive to their responsibilities by responding swiftly to complaints.
In an interview conducted by Independent, it was observed that many of the consumers were delighted with the improvement in electricity supply.
Ben Umana, a consumer at Iyana-Ipaja axis said there has been a remarkable improvement in electricity supply in the last two months.
Ben in his words, “I have really been having a swell time in my area. Sometimes, the supply goes for as long as 20 hours without any interruption. Things have really improved. Initially, we thought it was just a fluke. But with what we have witnessed in the past two weeks, it shows the government is really working.”
Mrs Adebisi Agbulugbe, who operates a business in Alimosho area said she is delighted with the turn of event.
She said the frequency of electricity supply in recent time had helped a great deal in reducing operating costs.
According to her, “In the last few weeks, the electricity supply has been great. I have had little cause to rely on generators. As a matter of fact, it has permeated down to my operating cost. Some of the money I expend on fuel now goes into other things to keep the business going. I am sure if this continues, it would help many businesses to survive the economic storm.”
Another consumer who is resident in Ikeja, Subola Temiloluwa, said government deserves to be applauded for the improvement, urging them never to rest until power supply gets better across the country.
In her words, “Government has done well. I think they should continue to push more in ensuring that the improvement gets across the board. We need electricity to get many things in place in this country.”
