Ganduje Announces Plan for Takeoff of Independent Power Project

The Governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has announced that his administration is finalizing arrangement to move out electricity supply from Tiga and Challawa Independent Power Projects, IPP, for distribution to the public.
According to him the government would procure distributor transformers for rural electrification and augmentation/distribution network.
The media aide to the governor, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, in a statement on Tuesday, said the governor disclosed this during a meeting with the President of Skipper Group, Mr. Jitender Kumar Sachdeva in his office in Gurgaon, India.
The statement read in part: “all future transformer requirements shall be done from Skipper after seeking necessary clarifications from Kano Electricity Distribution Company”.
Ganduje also expressed interest in setting up of a 100MW Green Economic Zone, an eco-friendly initiative, based upon hybrid model of sourcing power as well as a proposal for a 150 KW community solar system, by the company, in Kano.
