The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC) said it has commenced customer enumeration using Geographic Information System in four states under its operation.
The Head, Corporate Communication of Kaduna Electric, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement made available to reporters on Thursday in Kaduna.
The statement said that the exercise would be conducted across the company’s operational states-Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara.
It said that the exercise has started in Kaduna state, using NYSC members.
The statement further explained that the exercise would capture the data of existing customers; prospective ones, identify undeveloped and developed properties, as well as vacant houses.
According to the statement, the aim of the enumeration is to have a comprehensive database of all electricity customers in the four states.
“We inherited a customer base of a little above 400,000 which is far from the true number of electricity users on our network. This exercise will give us the correct figure of customers on our network.“
It added that the exercise would enhance the tracking of electricity transformers and mapping, which was already carried out in Kawo, Hayin Danmani and old Tudun Wada in Kaduna.
However, the company solicited for the support of customers in order to achieve the overall objective.
