The Bureau of Public Enterprises has told Kaduna Electric that the government may soon uncover its position on the debts owed the 11 Distribution firms (Discos) by the Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
The Deputy Director on Post Privatization, Mallam Rabiu Abubakar Abba disclosed this while reacting to the difficulties of the Discos said, “soon the government will come out with a position especially on the obligations owed Discos by Government Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and also issues of liquidity upsetting the division.”
The Managing Director Kaduna Electric, Engr. Garba Haruna, in his address said the entire procedure of privatization is to reduce losses and increase efficiency in the electricity industry.
He noted that the agency is a part of Kaduna Electric as government claims 40 percent while BPE represents its interest on the Disco’s board.
The Deputy Director, Enterprises at BPE, Mr. John Olalekan Joseph urged different Discos on deploying similar GPS innovation saying it would cut down fundamentally then business looses of the organizations.
