In Rumuwoji, Port Harcourt,Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company ( PHED) embarked on a free medical check up and also orientation for the people of Rumuwoji today 21st of September 2016.
The initiative was spare headed by prominent members of the PHED, with the aim of enlighting the community on the importance of energy optimisation, importance of prompt bills payment, and also the negative effects of vandalization
The Head IBC, Garden City Main Mrs Sokiperim William-West spoke on the need of safeguarding the pieces of equipment installed by the PHED in order to avoid vandalism. Issues concerning bills regulation, unlawful access to transformers and lagging of high tension wire were brought up by members of the community in attendance. Mrs Sokiperim William-West stressed the importance of contacting the PHED in cases of transformers and other equipment issues instead of contracting local electricians who in turn damage the equipment.
MR. John Onyi , head of Corporate Communications PHED, urged the community members to always report suspicious activities of individuals tampering with the installed transformers and other equipment. While still addressing the community he made known to them of how much effort PHED is putting in to ensure a constant supply of electricity in the community.In his closing statements, he assured that PHED has the interest of the people at heart.
