While declaring open the 11th Monthly Power Sector and Stakeholders Meeting held at the Ayobo Transmission Plant, recently in Lagos, the minister of Power revealed that the government was making concerted efforts at smoothening the rough edges in the power sector.

He also called on the distribution companies, DisCos, to improve their service delivery to electricity customers across Nigeria. While acknowledging that the DisCos are already making sacrifices, he challenged them to do even more to improve customer experience in 2017. He emphasised that the customers remain the heart of any business.

Fashola acknowledged the responsibility of the government to provide the enabling environment for businesses to thrive and assured the stakeholders of his resolve to tackle the issues head on. He said the government was dialoguing with investors, both local and international, on how to deal with the liquidity challenge plaguing the power sector

It is our hope that this will not only be a year we can improve on the quality of service to the expectant and service deserving public, but also a year we can improve the business environment in which you operate.

In that regard, my team and I are working round the clock, but as pioneers you have to make more sacrifice and do more than you have already done

The minister highlighted the support of the National House of Assembly and affirmed that the investors, being engaged in discussions, have shown positive signs.

…have shown commitment and inspiring attitude to key into the opportunities provided, while our partners in parliament are understanding with us.

We have already identified and listed the challenges; what is left to be done at this meeting is to set the agenda for the year in terms of what comes first and which should follow,
