AD

On Thursday, 26th of January, citizens and Sapele in Delta state took to the streets and help a protest against the lack of electricity in their homes. There has been a total blackout in the area for weeks. Following the national grid failures and the drop of the country’s generation capacity from 3,959 MW to 3,751 MW, power supply in that area has been totally crippled.

The residents took to the streets with generators on their heads, insisting that they were tired of darkness.

They questioned the Benin Electricity company, BEDC over the continuous power outage which they said had been dragging for months without an improvement.

They displayed placards such as ‘No light, no bill payment. BEDC na thief’, ‘We don tire for darkness.’
