Four persons were accused of allegedly assaulting an Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IE) staff at Ifako-Gbagada in Lagos. The accused four were arraigned at a Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday, 14th of March 2017.
The assault allegedly occurred on March 3, at No. 20, Ifateludo Street, Ifako-Gbagada. The victim, Samuel Odukoya was at the time carrying out his lawful duty as a staff of Ikeja Electric. He was attacked and assaulted by the suspects who are residents of the area during which a sum of N27,000 was stolen from him. Four of the suspects have been captured and arraigned while the others remain at large.
The suspects, Jide Taiwo, Emeka Ndubisi, Anuoluwapo Odukoya and Blessing Aloysus, pleaded not guilty to a five-count charge of assault and breach of public peace leveled against them.
The magistrate, Mr. P.A. Ojo, granted the suspects bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. He ordered that the sureties must show evidence of three years tax payment to Lagos State government and have their addresses verified.The case was adjourned till April 5, 2017 for mention.
