According to the National Union Of Electricity Workers (NUEE), the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company has commenced an assessment exercise to re-engage some of its sacked workers.

Recall that, the distribution company recently terminated the employment of 530 of its members. The mass sack came shortly after the company carried out what it called a Talent review in 2016.

After a lot of backlash from the National Union of Electricity Workers, Kaduna Electric reaffirmed that appropriate evaluation procedure were followed in assessing its staff in the recent talent review. Also that most of the workers were confirmed and few others sack for incompetence.

Mr Moses Amedu, Assistant General-Secretary, North West Zone of the union, however, said on Thursday that the company is currently reassessing some of those workers from its four franchise states for potential reengagement.

“We are optimistic that a substantial number of the affected workers would be reinstated after the re-assessment exercise,”

According to reports, the company is reviewing mostly Engineers, Technicians and a few Marketing officers who had earlier raised an alarm that they were unjustly retrenched.
