Minister Malam Muhammad Musa Bello of the Federal Capital Territory has expressed discontent with the state of power supply in the nation’s capitals. He met with the new managing director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria in his office, where he referred to the 11% electricity allocation from the national grid to the Abuja electricity distribution company’s franchise states as grossly inadequate.
He said that the Transmission company should allocate more to the distribution company particularly for the federal capital territory.

“Powering the city’s critical infrastructure like the streetlights, the hospitals, water treatment plants and the entire waste management  value chain especially the liquid waste management has been a big  challenge with epileptic power supply.

“We have been faced with a number of options some which include just going off grid. But we realized that going off grid, the immediate  solution will be using fossil fuels, putting generators all over the  city and of course that affects the environment critically.” He said.
