PHED Bags Excellence Awards

Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), has received an award of excellence from the National Coalition of Niger Delta Graduates for Non-violence (NCONDGNOV), for outstanding performance in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
In the last business year, PHED celebrated Children’s Day by generously handing over 3000 school bags and writing materials to pupils and students in the four of its coverage states. PHED also embarked on free health check project titled, “Power Clinic”. The project was sited in over ten locations where 694 customers were beneficiaries.
On the other hand, the Chief Executive Officer of  the distribution Company, Jay McCoskey was also given an Excellent Performance Award from the group. Presenting the awards to McCoskey at the Company’s Corporate Headquarters in Port Harcourt, the President of the Coalition, Comrade Amos Edison Onwuka said that the award became necessary because of enormous achievements of the company under the leadership of Jay McCoskey.
Comrade Onwuka noted with pleasure the outstanding contribution of CEO-led management in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), particularly in the areas of health, education and employment generation.
In his words, ”May I also add that from what we have heard of your good work, as a well experienced, articulated, committed and dedicated Chief Executive Officer, PHED, we have no iota of doubt that you will successfully continue to deliver in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility and call to serve humanity.
“In recognition of all these, therefore, we are giving you an award we do not give out easily.
“We are also assuring you that we will continually stand behind you in prayers and ensure that PHED thrives in this region,” Onwuka said.
However, the Coalition sought for PHED’s support in carrying out sensitization programmes aimed at curbing cultism and kidnapping in the Niger Delta region, especially in Rivers State.
Responding after receiving both awards, the Chief Executive Officer, PHED, Jay McCoskey thanked the visiting team for extending such honours to him and PHED, promising to partner with them in ensuring that peace is maintained in the region.
McCoskey also reminded them that PHED’s mission statement is to supply quality and reliable power safely to her valued customers and ignite social–economic growth in the region while relying on her highly innovative and motivated workforce. This can only be achieved when there is peace in the region. He stated that PHED will continually add value and empower the future of its customers.
The presentation was witnessed by the Chief Operation Officer, Engr. JohnKingsley Achife, Chief Financial Officer, Jean-Pierre Breton, Head Regulatory, Chigozirim Egeruoh, Head, Health, Safety and Environment, Gabriel Egede, Programme Manager, Energy Efficiency, Franklin Ajaegbu, among others.
National Coalition of Niger Delta Graduates for Non-violence is a Non-Government Organisation and it is affiliated with so many other society groups saddled with the responsibility of promoting peace, unity and progress in order to influence youths positively.
