Transcorp Power, a subsidiary of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp), yesterday commissioned a new Turbine power plant, GT15, that will generate up to 115MW of power.
The turbine was commissioned by the Delta state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa who was present alongside Tony O Elumelu, Chairman of Transcorp group and the Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola.
The GT15 turbine is a 115MW gas turbine that increases the company’s total generating capacity to 620MW and keeps it on course to end the year at 850MW capacity. The chairman, Elumelu pointed out that since the company now has the capacity to produce more power, there will be need for more gas.
Elumelu appreciated GE Africa for partnering with Transcorp on the project and also commended the transcorp team for their hard work and toil that made the event possible.
