TCN Decries Vandalism Of Its Facilities

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) yesterday lamented the vandalism of its facilities by suspected criminals as one of the challenges militating against its activities. As Reported by The Guardian, the General Manager of the company, Victor Adewunmi said this when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Godwin Obaseki at the Government House in Benin City.

The Edo state Governor said his administration would take advantage of its connectivity to nine power stations to boost power supply and industrialize the state. However the TCN General Mananger stressed that the major challenge facing the company was the vandalism of its electricity infrastructure by indigent youths and urged the communities to protect electricity facilities in their domains. He suggested that the state government would enforce the law to checkmate the activities of vandals of electricity facilities across the state. He described the visit as an opportunity for the state government and the company to reach a compromise and assured that information provided by the TCN would enable the government to realize its goal in electricity generation and supply.

Hopefully this would lead to structures being put in place to address the recurrent issue of vandalism of electricity facilities in Edo state. BEDC have had several of such vandalisms across their franchise areas which have seriously crippled power supply in these areas.
