Eko electricity distribution company has announced that due to technical and maintenance issues, residents of Ikoyi, Victoria Island and parts of Lagos Island will experience blackout from Wednesday, May 24 to Sunday, May 28.

The EKEDC made the announcement on Monday, May 22, through a statement by a spokesman, Godwin Idemudia.
“We want to inform our esteem customers that from Wednesday, May 24 to Sunday, May 28, there will be an outage within Ikoyi, Victoria Island and parts of Lagos Island,” Idemudia said.

He added that the outage was necessary to allow the maintenance crew from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) address technical issues at the Alagbon transmission station.

While the Nigerian power sector is still in shock as regards the new policy allowing customers to buy from GenCos directly, this comes at the worse possible time for EKEDC.
