Spark Media hosted a successful live chat yesterday, 26th May, with the very knowledgeable Kunle Kola Olubiyo. The live chat which began at about 3.p.m involved Mr. Olubiyo providing key insights into various issues surrounding, Metering, Tariff, and even The ESPR act.
Mr. Olubiyo who is the President, Nigeria Consumer Protection Network, as well as President Of Network for Energy Reform, is a lawyer by profession and a social commentator on the Nigerian Power Sector.
His views on the Nigeria power sector included commending the policy makers who have declared that GenCos can now sell power to some select customers, stating that it is a bold step that would charge the discos to improve its services to R1 and R2 customers.
He also explained that while the privatization idea is based off successful stories from other countries, the model that Nigeria has used to carry out its privatization has been far from successful.
