Ondo South vs BEDC – BEDC In Fresh Controversy

AD

It appears that BEDC just can’t catch a break, as their favorite antagonist, the Bring Back Our Light (BBOL) volunteer group have once again petitioned the poor service of the utility firm.

Recent reports from leaders of Ondo South local government claim that BEDC may have cut the area from the National grid. To this effect, local government leaders have appealed to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), to investigate the disconnection of four local governments from the national grid.

The claims are that BEDC disconnected the entire Okitipupa, Irele, Ese-Odo and Ilaje local government areas from the national grid since 2014 despite having numerous electricity consumers who are not indebted to the company and are with proof of tariff payment.

Residents of the affected area seem determined to make their case and have submitted samples of “billing register history & other corresponding materials to NERC for further investigation. Following the submission of the evidence, NERC yesterday summoned a meeting of all the stakeholders, including BEDC to her office in Abuja on July 6, 2019 with a view to finding a lasting solution to the crisis.

You would recall that not too long ago, a spark exclusive covered how Ibusa Community which is under BEDC distribution zone had experienced 7 years of power outage.
