The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), during this year’s National Children’s Day celebration, organised a free medicals program that was tagged “Power Clinic”. The Power Clinic held at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt and over 131 school children benefitted from it.

The power clinic is an initiative of PHED as part of her corporate social responsibility (CSR), and it coincided with Rivers State Golden Jubilee anniversary. Lots of children were seen availing themselves the opportunity of conducting free eye test.

According, to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Engr. Kingsley Achife, the clinic is in line with the company’s resolve to continue to impact positively.

However, this is not the first time PHED would be seen conducting free medical checks but this was a special one aimed at benefiting the children directly because. Engr. Achife stated that the program was particularly important to him because the children are indeed the leaders of tomorrow.

Over 694 customers of PHED, including the aged, had benefitted from the free medical-checks across the four states of the company’s licensed area of coverage.

“We will continue to do our best in improving the socio-economic growth of the region through provision of efficient service power supply safely.

“Let me for the umpteenth time assure you that we are determined in ensuring that the power clinic, an initiative of PHED, as part of its CSR will be taken seriously, despite the economic realities on ground”, Achife reiterated.
