The Port-Harcourt ELectricity Distribution Company recently released a statement condemming and denying some unidentified persons who have been demanding money for instalation of pre-paid meters in Rumuomasi, Port-Harcourt.
Accroding to the statement released via the company’s facebook page, it can to the company’s notice that some unknown individuals have been requesting for sums of money before pre-paid meters are installed to PHED customers in Rumuomasi.
“For avoidance of doubt, devoid of any ambiguity, the PHED has not and will not send anybody directly or indirectly to act on her behalf with the purposes of collecting any amount of money before the smart meters are installed.
“In the last meeting held with the people and chiefs of the Rumuomasi Kingdom, it was made clear that the meters are free.
“In the light of the above, if anybody comes to you to demand gratification or his action suggests that, please call the PHED anti- corruption hotline = 09085555055 or accost the person and hand him over to the police. And if your abode is skipped without being metered, also call the PHED attention to it.”
PHED reaffirmed to their customers that meters installations are free and are currently ongoing in some communities under the company”s franchise zones.
