Festac Residents Lament Over Power Outage

The residents of 311 Road and other adjoining roads in Festac town are lamenting over the absence of power in their vicinity in the past two weeks.

According to Vanguard, a source said a major feeder cable supplying the area got damaged, throwing the neighborhood into darkness.

Residents said those responsible for the damaged feeder cable should fix it as quickly as possible so that electricity supply can be restored. In the interim, this has affected Mr. Falana Ibrahim, the Eko Disco marketer responsible for the area, who was seen recently trying to convince consumers to pay electricity bills even while in darkness.

Why Government Must Act Now In Ensuring Utilities Right of Way.

The area has been complaining of irregular supply for a long time, even before the feeder cable was damaged. Last June, the area had no power supply for three weeks following a car accident that led to the collapse of electric poles along 31 Road.

In July, when electricity supply was denied the area for over three weeks, the EKEDC  electricity bills, rather than come down, were higher than previous months.
