FG Begins Rehabilitation Of Electrical Facilities In Ondo – The Guardian

After over 10 years of neglect, the people of Ondo South Senatorial District have been remembered as FG commence rehabilitation of electrical facilities. This was confirmed by some residents in Ode-Aye, Okiipupa, Igbokoda and Irele area, according to them, the Niger-Delta Power Holding Company Ltd (NDPHCL) has started work on the facilities. These LGA’s were disconnected from the national grid by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) over alleged debts.

 

NDPHCL workers has started erecting new poles, repairing and restoring some transformers and connecting wires in the areas. An NDPHCL official who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the Federal Government had given the company the mandate to repair all the damaged electrical equipment in the affected communities and restore electricity. Although he could not ascertain when the project would be completed, but said some the communities would be reconnected before the end of the year.

 

 

Abuja Set to Play Host to Power Safety Summit and Exhibition – ThisDay

All hands are on deck as preparations for the second edition of the Power Safety summit and exhibition scheduled to hold in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital has advanced. Stakeholders from across the world are set to gather in Abuja to appraise issues of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) in the power sector value chain. According to the organisers, the venue of the summit billed for October 23 and 24, 2018, is the International Conference Centre, Abuja with the theme of the 2018 power summit and exhibition is ‘Vision Zero Incident in the Power Sector Value Chain’. Yemi Osibanjo, Nigeria’s VP is expected to declare the summit and exhibition open.

 

The organisers stated that during the talk-shop, participants would appraise and recommend the best global practices on how to mitigate incidences, accidents and fatalities in the power sector. Organisers of the summit are conscious of the challenges of managing an ever expanding industry like the power sector with regards to safety of investors’ equipment, safety of the operators as well as that of consumers.
