Residents In Lagos Express Satisfaction With Electricity Supply

Some residents in Lagos lauds the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, for improved electricity supply.
The residents gave the commendation in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos.
Mr Bola Ogun, a resident of Abesan Estate, Ipaja, said that the improvement in electricity supply had created comfort.
According to him, “It is obvious that power supply in this area has really improved and we are happy. You know, when there is constant power supply, life becomes much more comfortable because now we can sleep comfortably at night and artisans now depend less on generating sets.’’
Another resident of Ojo, Mr Tajudeen Idowu, was excited about the improved power situation.
In his words, “In recent times, we have been enjoying improved power supply and we are happy about that. Though it is not yet 24 hours uninterrupted power supply but it has remarkably improved and I commend PHCN and Mr Babatunde Fashola, the minister in charge of power for a job well done.
“We can only hope that the improvement will continue after the rainy season because some people are saying that it is because of the rains,” Idowu said.
Mrs Faith Ayeni , another resident of Shomolu, decried the epileptic power supply in the area.
She said, “Some residents have been commending PHCN for improved power supply but that has not been the case here in Shomolu.
An Assistant General Manager, Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Mr Tasiu Wudil, has called on engineers to play active part in the sector.
According to him, “I call on engineering personnel in Nigeria to avail themselves with the vast opportunities in the power sector reforms in the interest of national growth and development.
He added, “The Nigerian power sector has gone through a lot of transformation and so much effort has gone into reforming the sector but Nigerians have not seen much improvement in the sector.
