GENCOs Deny Conniving With NBET To Inflate DISCOs Invoice
After the very recent allegation against the power generation companies (GENCOs) and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET) for inflating invoices for the Distribution companies, the GENCOs have stepped up to deny any part in such actions.
The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distribution Companies (ANED) has challenged the GENCOs to open up their books for the Federal government to investigate if indeed they are innocent.
In a statement by Executive Secretary of the Association of Power Generation Companies, Dr Joy Ogaji, in Abuja on Monday, it was said that the GenCos were not aware of any such practice in the sector.
The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors had at a news conference by its Executive Secretary, Sunday Oduntan, accused the GenCos and NBET of lack of transparency in the invoices presented to the DisCos.
Oduntan had said the capacity charge by the GENCOs should be equal to the quantum of energy presented the DisCos for distribution.
Even though he clearly stated that ANED was not the original source of the accusation, he revealed that the DISCOs have noticed an unexplainable increase in their monthly invoice.
To this end, Ogaji said although the GenCos did not hold brief for NBET, it expected NBET to also respond to the allegation as soon as possible.
